Personal photos
( Baghdad during the seventies)

Baghdad was called 'The land of peace'. It was sleeping on the banks of Tiger's river, drowning in dreams and hopes, inspiring hearts of its lovers and giving love to all Iraqis.
But now, it turned to land of pain and fear!!!!!!
(The marshes in south of Iraq)

Houses made from breed and papyrus and built on water surface. The only transport way is a small boat calls ''Belem''.

Those photos are taken south of Iraq. There were huge areas of water where Tigers andEuphrates meet to form large areas of water calls marshes. Those areas no longer exist because Saddam regime dried it all. More than 250.000 people have been forced to leave their regions and 20,000 hectare of water have been dried. The reason was a security purpose, as they claimed, to put an end to hundreds and hundreds years of natural life in that area. It was very nice places to visit especially in winter as many species of birds immigrate to this area from the cold countries of the world. The people who used to live there were very kind and they were living a very simple and natural life. Many people used to go there for fishing or hunting ducks but this no longer happens now.
(North of Iraq)

At the north of Iraq, the picture is completly different from south Iraq as the mountains rise up high to the sky and the scene is breathtaking. Spending summer holiday their is a real enjoyment espcially for Iraqis because travelling abroad is kind of dreams at the present.
